Getting Paid To Talk

Welcome To Getting Paid To Talk, an introduction to professional voice over.

In an effort to ensure that this class ideally suits your interests, we’ve put together a more detailed class description. In addition, we’ve added some helpful information about today’s voice over field.

Getting Paid To Talk Is:

  • - A 2-1/2 hour class designed as an upbeat and realistic assessment of the voice over industry including areas of growth, unique opportunities, common pitfalls, and mistakes.

  • - Designed specifically for adults.
Though older children are welcome with parental accompaniment, the material is designed with adult perspective. (Please contact class facility for their specific rules regarding age.)

  • - A great class for anyone who has been told they have a good voice; those who use their voices prominently in their occupations; people with music or theater background; or anyone who is interested in how voice-overs work and how people get started.

Getting Paid To Talk Is Not:

  • - A class about public speaking, English as a second language, or improving communication skill.

  • - A class that will completely prepare you to work as a professional voice actor.

  • - A class limited to positives. Though upbeat, this presentation is realistic.

  • - A place to drop your children off while you go shopping.

Getting Paid To Talk is a two and a half hour upbeat and realistic introduction to voice-overs, also known as voice acting. During the class, your instructor will discuss:
  • - The different types of voice-overs
  • - What it’s like to work in the studio
  • - Voice types that are in demand
  • - Where to look for work opportunities close to you
  • - Effective demo development & examples
  • - Industry pros and cons
Everyone in the class will also have an opportunity to record a short Voice Over for playback at the end of class. Your instructor will also be more than happy to offer you some basic voice feedback at the completion of the class.
